Which risk profile fits me?

Nine questions to see an indicative risk profile — conservative, balanced or dynamic — before you talk about investing with an advisor.

Before any conversation about saving with an investment element, it helps to know where you stand on risk: how much time you have, what you want to achieve and what you would do if the value fell. The tool recommends no product and no fund; it gives you a common language for that conversation.

You answer nine questions: in how many years you will need the money, what the goal is, what you would do in a 20% fall, how likely it is that you suddenly need it, how stable your income is, whether you have an emergency fund, your experience, what loss in euro you could bear and your age. No documents or amounts are needed.

How to read the result

Each answer scores 0 to 4 points; the horizon, the reaction to a fall and the loss in euro count twice. The total (0–100) gives one of five profiles: Conservative, Conservative to balanced, Balanced, Balanced to dynamic and Dynamic. For each you see what it usually means, the trade-off and the range of the risk indicator (SRI, from 1 to 7) on the Key Information Document (KID) that people with this profile usually look at.

Appetite for risk is not all that counts; your financial room counts too. If you will need the money in less than 3 years, the profile is limited to Conservative; with 3–5 years to Balanced; if you may need it at any time, to Conservative to balanced; and with no emergency fund, to Balanced. When answers pull in different directions — a short horizon with a dynamic goal, for example — the tool says so plainly, so that you can discuss it.

What you can do next

  • See what a monthly amount could become under different assumptions, costs and a bad year: What could €X a month become?
  • First make sure you have an emergency fund, so a surprise does not force you to take money out at a bad moment.
  • Ask for the KID of every option and ask about the risk indicator, the performance scenarios, the costs and what happens if you stop early.
  • Book an appointment to discuss your profile with a licensed advisor, who assesses whether a solution is suitable for you.

If you are signed in, you can save the result to My reports and, only if you choose to, send it to your advisor; nothing is shared automatically.

An educational tool, not investment advice or a product recommendation; no fund or product is named. The profile is indicative: whether a product is suitable for you is assessed by a licensed advisor, from your needs, knowledge, experience and financial situation (IDD, art. 30).

If you save the result, your answers and points are kept with it. So if you send it to an advisor you choose, they see how the profile was reached and where to start the conversation.
